Las Cañitas' first real boutique hotel, 248 Finisterra sits right beside Soul Café, the focal point of Báez's strip of bars.
Entered through an inconspicuous street door, the hotel is housed in a low-rise, early 20th Century building with 11 rooms, a small wine bar on the ground floor and a sundeck with stargazing Jacuzzi. All the rooms are cosy, with wooden floors, lime green walls and freshly-pressed white linen. Intimate and refreshing the hotel, while not exactly five star luxury, is ideally placed and well equipped for a couple of days at the coal face.
Massage and yoga are available either on deck or below, either before or after a couple of looseners in one of Báez's bars. They say Las Cañitas is slightly passé, but take of 248 Finisterra as a sign that the trendsetters could return to stargaze once more in this neighbourhood. The polo ground is only a few yards away.
